Free Guns ! Yes Or No - 1599 Words

Free guns! Yes or no? One highly discussed topic has always exist in US history: if it is right having a gun instead of a restrictive gun- policy as it exist in almost every other country around the world, like for example in Germany. This issue comes up a lot, especially after those mass shootings like in Connecticut, and it seems that there is not one way to a satisfying solution. Should government ban every weapon? Which are usually used for self- protection? Or just some of the weapons, for example semiautomatic rifles? Or can we do something else? These are the questions everybody is asking himself about the gun use issue. However, most people agree that something needs to be done, although it is not clear which way to go. Among those people, who want to do something, is also the President of the United States, Barack Obama, and Tom Gresham, the host of the nationally syndicated radio show Tom Gresham ´s Gun Talk. However, they disagree in the way they want to solve it. Obama presents three actions to restrict the gun- use in America in his speech â€Å"Now is the time: a background check, ban of some weapons and more law enforcement. In comparison to Obama, Gresham gives evidence in his article â€Å"Gun control has a clear record of failure† that the policy of free-gun-use has decreased the number of violent crimes and murders and that, therefore, stricter gun laws should not be seen as a solution for reducing such crimes.
